A general practitioner at Boulevard Veterinary Clinic since 1988, Dr. David Fuerst has worked in the veterinary field since he was 15 years old. Although he majored in psychology at Albright College – from which he graduated in 1980 – Dr. Fuerst earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of the Philippines in 1984. Dr. Fuerst is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Fuerst and his wife share their home with their children and their dogs, Carly and Pepper. He is an avid skier.
Dr. Robert Markowitz, who has owned and worked at Boulevard Veterinary Clinic since 2000, grew up in Scotch Plains and has always known he wanted to be a veterinarian. "I've been motivated to do this work since my earliest memories," he said. In fact, he pursued his dream and put it to practical use early in life by working as a veterinary technician in high school.
Dr. Markowitz earned his bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990 (having graduated magna cum laude) and received his Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) from the University of Pennsylvania College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994.
Today, Dr. Markowitz has professional interests in general medicine and surgery. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the Association of Avian Veterinarians.
Dr. Markowitz and his wife and their two children share their home with a shih tzu named Stitch, a cat named Lilo, and a poodle named Fred. He relaxes away from the clinic by traveling, swimming, ice skating, and watching the Rangers, Yankees and Giants.
Dr. Lauren Abdelmessih has been a general practitioner at Boulevard Veterinary Clinic since August of 2009. Her career working with animals actually began when she worked as a veterinary technician in Matawan during the year between college and veterinary school. Dr. Abdelmessih earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in animal science in 2004 (having graduated magna cum laude) and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. During veterinary school, she was a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society.
Today, Dr. Abdelmessih has professional interests in internal medicine and nutrition, and she stays current on advancements in veterinary medicine through her membership in the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Abdelmessih shares her home with her husband and her dog, Jackson, and enjoys traveling, baking and reading.
